The Magic of Jewelry

Remarkable, incredible things await those of us willing to open our hearts, our minds and let go of our imposed limitations!

Amulets, Talismans and Magical Jewelry!
Jewelry's origins lie in magic from ancient times. That should come as no surprise at all,  for nearly all human customs and the technologies that result from those very customs stem from ancient magical practices and beliefs. Legend, lore, tales and truth.

In the earliest times, jewelry was usually worn to avert negativity, and danger then thought of  as "evil spirits".  Jewelry was also often placed in tombs with other grave goods to guard the dead during and after their transition.

As perception of the energies within objects sharpened, certain stones and metal were associated with various organs and regions of the body and were worn to guard health and mental abilities. Later, stones, metals, horn, feathers, bone and many other materials were donned for their power to attract love, health, money and other necessities of life as they were needed.

At first, humans easily and naturally recognized the energies within natural products of the earth and utilized these in their daily rites without second thought.

Rings
The ring is a circle, symbolic of eternity, unity , reincarnation and of the universe. In earlier times, the ring was associated with the Sun and Moon, It was an object of protection, a magical guard that warded off negativity through it's continuity. All rings were once magical or sacred, even goddess and gods wore them.

Even the finger on which the ring is worn has significance. The Index or "ring" finger was once thought to be especially powerful. Herbal medicines were applied to the body with the ring finger to strengthen the effectiveness of the cure. Thus, rings containing stones that speed the boy's healing are best worn on this finger.

The second or middle finger, although a gesture of insult in the united states, has often been though an unlucky finger on which to wear rings.

Once, rings were usually worn on the third finger, because it was thought to contain a nerve that went directly to the heart.  Betrothal rings are still traditionally worn on this finger.

Necklaces
The necklace is simply a large ring worn around the neck. Because necklaces are often worn near the heart, they can be used to work on the emotions, or to attract or strengthen love.

Wearing a necklace of stones increase their energies because you are surrounding yourself with their powers. Thus, the necklace is much more powerful than any one stone used separately.

Earrings
Earrings were once used to guard the ears from negativity and disease.  Later they became a symbol of slavery, for slaves wore earrings marking their status.

Pierced earrings in general are often recommended to strengthen weak eyes -if set with emeralds, they are particularly effective.
